HOUSTON, TX

Championship Game: UConn 76, San Diego State 59.
National Semifinals:  San Diego State 72, Florida Atlantic 71;
UConn 72, Miami, FL 59.

 

• All of the top-three seeds in each region were eliminated by the end of the Elite Eight.  One 4-seed, two 5-seeds and a 9-seed advanced to the Final Four.

• The Hampton Inn Downtown Houston served as the Hoop Historians Final Four Headquarters during the week.

• The membership attended MLB and NBA games that were both located less than two blocks away from the headquarters hotel.

• The March Madness Music Festival was one block away from the headquarters hotel.  Lil Nas X, Tim McGraw and Keith Urban were among the performers.

• A series of nightly evening receptions were held at the headquarters hotel in lieu of a formal Welcome Dinner.

• The Annual Business Meeting was held at the Hampton Inn Downtown and had 17 attendees.

• Michael Bailey was elected as a Member and Dennis Bracco was elected as an Honorary Member.

• Vern Vegso won the third annual Hoop Historians Hoop Hysteria Contest.  No entry correctly identified any of the Final Four teams.
