  • For the first time in tournament history a number-one or number-two seed failed to advance to the Final Four.

  • # 11 seed Virginia Commonwealth tied a mark as the lowest seed to advance to the Final Four. 

  • National runner-up Butler reached the title game for the second straight year (both losses) and were seeded # 8 in the Southeast Regional.

  • The annual Welcome dinner had 32 people in attendance.  The event was held at the Three Forks Restaurant in downtown Houston.

  • The Hoop Historians Headquarters was located at the Doubletree Suites by Hilton on Dallas Street in downtown Houston.

  • Cal Dilworth was recognized by the Hoop Historians for his years of service and support to the game of basketball.

  • Selected members of the Hoop Historians visited with astronaut Lee Archambault in the Space Shuttle simulator at NASA.

  • Doug Foley, Dave Mateer, Bren Petar, Darren Sack and Tom Tallarito were elected as full members.
