Championship Game:  Baylor 86, Gonzaga 70
National Semifinals:  Baylor 78, Houston 59;
Gonzaga 93, UCLA 90

 

• The Final Four resumed after canceling the 2020 NCAA Tournament due to the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic.

• A small contingent of Hoop Historians attended the spectator-limited event.  At least one member of the group has attended the Final Four every year it was contested since 1967.

• The Annual Business Meeting was conducted online using Zoom technology.  Twenty Hoop Historians participated remotely.

• Gonzaga, attempted to become the first team since 1976 to finish the season without a loss.  Baylor upset the Zags in the title game.

• The semi-final game between UCLA and Gonzaga was considered one of the best Final Four games of all time, and was decided on a 40-foot bank shot at the buzzer.

• Steve Traktman won the inaugural Hoop Historians Hoop Hysteria Contest.

• Larry Holley was elected as a full member and Doug Erickson was elected as an Honorary Member.
