  • This was the first Final Four West of the Rockies since the event was held in Seattle in 1995.

  • The annual Welcome Dinner drew a record 56 people in attendance.  The event was held in the World Series Suite of Friday's Front Row Sports Grill at Chase Field. 

  • MLB executive Roland Hemond was the guest speaker at the Welcome Dinner.

  • The Hoop Historians Headquarters was located at the Doubletree Suites by Hilton on 44th Street in Phoenix.

  • John Mayberry was recognized by the group for his years as photographer and annual yearbook editor.

  • Ted Reineking attended his 300th NCAA Tournament game in the first semi-final at the University of Phoenix Stadium.

  • A number of Hoop Historians attended the Opening Day game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Francisco Giants.  Boxscore

  • Dennis DeGraff, Matt DeGraff, Carrie Gibbons, Billy T. Haynes, Mike Kerry, Joseph Lyons and Ron Newton were elected as full members.

  • Rose Tate was elected as an honorary member
