A former collegiate player and career basketball coach, Jim Martin's basketball background goes back six decades to being a Hall of Fame player at Saint Benedict High School in Chicago to playing college ball for legendary coach Ray Meyer at De Paul University in the early seventies.  Martin played basketball at the Chicago Park District and AAU circuits before becoming a youth coach in the Chicago Public Schools system from 1974-2012.  In addition to his basketball background, Jim is considered to be one of Chicago's finest 16-inch softball players, playing on two World Championship teams and earning ASA All-America status in 1979.  For his accomplishments in the sport, Jim is a Class of 2015 inductee to the Chicago 16-inch Softball Hall of Fame.  Now retired from teaching and coaching, Martin continues his tutelage as a supervisor of student teachers in the College of Education at De Paul.
